Fertility & IVF | Gold Coast
Your fertility journey starts with understanding your options.
Whether you're just starting to think about having a baby, have been trying to conceive without success, or are considering fertility treatment, I'm here to help you understand your options and find a way forward.
My approach combines evidence-based fertility care with clear explanations, realistic expectations and treatment tailored to your individual circumstances.

My approach
Fertility care that's personal to you.
Trying to conceive isn't always straightforward, and knowing when to seek help or which treatment to consider can feel overwhelming.
I believe the first step is understanding your individual circumstances. That means taking the time to review your history, investigate potential contributing factors and explain the options available.
Not everyone needs IVF. For some, identifying an underlying issue or making a relatively simple change to treatment may be enough to improve the chances of conception.
For others, assisted reproductive treatment may offer the most appropriate path forward.
My aim is to help you make informed decisions, with a clear understanding of the potential benefits, limitations, costs and next steps.
Getting started
When should you see a fertility specialist?
There's no single right time to ask questions about your fertility, but there are some circumstances where an earlier assessment may be helpful.
Under 35 years
Consider a fertility assessment after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse without pregnancy.
35 years and over
Consider a fertility assessment after 6 months of trying without success.
Over 40 years
Early fertility assessment is generally recommended rather than waiting several months.
Seek advice sooner if you have:
- Irregular or absent menstrual cycles
- Known or suspected endometriosis
- PCOS with irregular ovulation
- Previous pelvic infection or tubal concerns
- Known male-factor fertility concerns
- Previous fertility treatment
- Recurrent pregnancy loss
- Concerns about future fertility or fertility preservation
These are general recommendations. The right timing for an assessment depends on your individual circumstances.
What to expect
Your first fertility appointment.
The first appointment is about getting to know your circumstances, understanding your goals and developing a plan for what comes next.
Understanding Your Story
We'll discuss your medical and reproductive history, menstrual cycles, previous pregnancies, any fertility investigations and how long you've been trying to conceive.
Where relevant, we'll also review your partner's health and fertility history.
Investigating Your Fertility
Depending on your circumstances, investigations may include blood tests, pelvic ultrasound, assessment of ovulation, ovarian reserve testing, semen analysis and assessment of tubal patency.
Not every patient needs every test. Investigations will be selected according to your history and clinical findings.
Making a Plan Together
Once we have a clearer picture, we'll discuss your options.
These may include optimising natural conception, ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, IVF or other fertility treatments where appropriate.
We'll also talk about realistic expectations, treatment timelines and next steps.
How I can help
Understanding your fertility options.
Fertility treatment isn't one-size-fits-all. The most appropriate approach depends on factors including your age, medical history, investigations, fertility goals and personal preferences.
Dr Sam consults through Wahini Health in Tugun and works with City Fertility, predominantly at Bundall, for fertility treatment. Your consultation will clarify which treatments are suitable and available, and where your care would take place.
A comprehensive fertility assessment can help identify factors that may be affecting conception and guide the most appropriate next steps.
- Female fertility assessment
- Male fertility assessment
- Ovulation and menstrual cycle assessment
- Ovarian reserve testing
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Tubal patency investigations
- Preconception planning

From fertility to pregnancy
Supporting you through more than one chapter.
One of the things I particularly value about working across fertility, obstetrics and gynaecology is the opportunity to see the bigger picture.
Fertility care doesn't exist in isolation. Your reproductive health, medical history and future pregnancy plans all play a part in making decisions about treatment.
For some patients, that means I may have the privilege of supporting them through fertility treatment and, if pregnancy occurs, continuing their care through pregnancy and birth.
Whatever stage you're at, my focus remains the same: clear communication, thoughtful care and decisions made together.
Continuing pregnancy care depends on your clinical needs and practice arrangements.
